Sumatran Short Tail Python
The Sumatran Short-Tailed Python earned its name through the geographical location in which it is found, this species is endemic to Sumatra.
There are two localities of Sumatran Short-Tailed Pythons, it is also believed that they may in fact be 2 different species, or sub species, with both locales attaining different sizes, colouration and clutch sizes. Animals found in Southern Sumatra are often Blacker and larger than the other lighter, Orange Headed Locale, found on the North West Coast of Sumatra. The North Western Locale are easily mistaken for the Borneo Short-Tailed Python in appearance, but due to their geographical location and scalation, they are of their own taxon.
I am working with a small group of extremely tame animals which are as dark as they come in appearance. This species is considered to be the smallest and most even tempered of the three.
